Explore the history of anti-Jewish conspiracies and the multifaceted expressions they have taken on over the course of centuries, from the blood libels of the early Middle Ages to the modern idea that Jews secretly control the world. We will study how, why, and when these conspiracies emerged, and examine their permutations, legacies, and consequences. This course will offer a snapshot of the specific social, economic, and political contexts that encouraged the rise of anti-Jewish conspiracies in different times and places in history, including present-day United States.
